TVA NAMES SEQUOYAH OPERATIONAL READINESS ASSESSMENT TEAM i

! A special 11-member team appointed by the TVA manager of nuclear power has

! begun an independent review aimed at assessing Sequoyah's readiness for restart. TVA announced formation of the team on April 15 in both a press release and an internal employee bulletin.

Steven A. White. TVA manager of nuclear power, said in the announcement that  !

major areas to be evaluated include maintenance, plant operations, radiation l' control and protection, management programs, and tracking of corrective action programs. TVA said its work will include observations, discussions and review 1 of documents. The team will brief the TVA nuclear power manager periodically. l

The team consists of six TVA personnel - the Watts Bar site director, the

! manager and assistant director of the TVA Nuclear Manager's Review Group, the 1 l operational readiness manager, the assistant to the Browns Ferry plant manager, i and a contract project engineer from Browns Ferry. The other five team members  !

are from outside consulting firms, j Media coverage in the TVA area resulted from the announcement of the team's appointment, j The State of Tennnssee has been infonned.
