}UBJECT: POSSIBLE MEDIA INTEREST IN RADI0 ACTIVE GAS LEAK welve Tennessee Valley Authority employees were slightly contaminated on June 12 after adioactive gas leaked from a check valve flange on the waste gas compressor. The leak riggered a high radioactivity alarm in the work area.

'he affected employees were decontaminated. Whole-body counts showed less than 10 -

sercent of maximum permissible body burden. TVA repaired the leaking flange. No NRC elease limits were exceeded.

!edia interest is expected since TVA has placed a report of the incident on its recorded elephone call-in service for the public and the press. The NRC does not plan a news elease. ,
