SUBJECT:

SEQUOYAH UNIT.1 REACTOR TRIP On November 18,1988, at 10:05 a.m. (EST), Unit 1 tripped from 72% reactor power because of a turbine trip. All equipment operated as required. The plant is currently stable in

! 3de 3 (Hot Shutdown).

The cause of the event was an overvoltage condition on the main generator neutral transformer. This condition _ caused the generator output breakers to open .for protection of the_ main generator resulting in a turbine trip. The licensee is performing troubleshooting activities to determine the root cause of the overvoltage condition.
