REACTOR SHUTDOWN TO REPLACE LEAKING PRESSURIZER CODE SAFETY VALVE "2B" On January 30, 1993, at 4:00 p.m., (CST) the Farley, Unit 2 began a shutdown to replace leaking pressurizer code safety valve "2B." The leak reached a maximum rate of 20-28 gallons per hour prior to shutdown. At 5:19 p.m. (CST) on January 31, the unit was in cold shutdown. Currently the primary system is at 100 degreesafehrenheit, pressure at 22 psig and JZR level is being lowered in preparation for replacement of the safety valve.

the Resident Inspectors followed shutdown activities onsito January 31, 1993, and will follow repair.and restart activities.

l Unit 1 is at full power and was not affected.

The State of Alabama has been informed.
