The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation

Facility: FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT ALABAMA POWER COMPANY (APCO)

SHOOTING OF MAN AT CONSTRUCTION SITE A Delcon electrical superintendent was shot in the side twice on Friday (7-9-76) at 8:15 a.m. (CDT). He was taken to the hospital.

, It is not known what is behind the shooting.

Certain craf ts are on strike (See PNS-76-30) . Crafts not affected by the strike are still working. The plant is not being picketed.

The licensee indicates that this event should not be considered a 6

labor-management problem pending further investigation by local law enforcement authorities.

Both Units 1 and 2 are under construction; Unit 1 is 86% complete and Unit 2 is 42% complete.

, The sheriff has been notified and at this time no press release has l been made.

This PN is being issued at this time because of the potential for news media interest surrounding this event.

Region II received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the APCO QA Manager at 9:55 a.m. (EDT). O
