Dear Mr. Jordan:

This is in response to the September 27, 1485 letter from Dinah Wisenberg, formerly with your office, in which she requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (F0IA), copies of correspondence between the NRC and Congressman Markey on the Grand Gulf nuclear power station. In a telephone conversation with Natalie Brown of my staff, Ms. Margaret Ryan of your office stated that you might be interested in the records requested by Ms. Wisenberg.

However, in a telephone conversation with Ms. Brown, you stated that you might be interested in such records but was unsure of such interest.

For your information, preceding and. subsequent to the receipt of Ms. Wisenberg's request, the NRC processed a number of other F0IA requests for records relating to Grand Gulf, including correspondence between NRC and Congressman Markey.

The F0IA requests, which are identified on enclosed Appendix A, and the disclosed records, are available for public inspection and copying in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR) located at 1717 H Street, NW, Washington, DC 20555.

In addition, the documents identifed on enclosed Appendix B are being placed in the PDR in file folder F01A-85-661 under the name Wisenberg. We have enclosed a notice which provides procedures for obtaining records from the PDR.

Grand Gulf licensing matters were specifically discussed in open hearing or in information transmitted for the record of the April 17, 1985, hearing before the Subcommittee on Energy Conservation and Power, Committee on Energy and Comerce, on the NRC budget authorization for fiscal year 1986-1987. The Government Printing Office publication of the hearing is publicly available.
