This is in further response to your letter dated March 18, 1985, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), copies of docu-ments regarding the July 31, 1984, closed Comission meeting on Grand Gulf 1.
Documents relating to the closed Comission meeting were released in our response to a previous FOIA request, F01A-84-658. Copies of that request and d
the released documents are filed in the NRC Public Document Room located at

The July 31, 1984, closed Comission meeting transcript, identified on enclosed Appendix B, is being withheld in its entirety. The closed Comission meeting pertained to a briefing on the investigation of potential material false statements and possible enforcement actions regarding the Grand Gulf 4
facility. The statutory authority for withholding this information is i
Exemptions (5)and(7)(A)oftheGovernmentintheSunshineAct(5U.S.C.

I Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.15 of the Comission's regulations, it has been i
detemined that the information withheld is exempt from production or disclosure and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest. The person responsible for this denial is John C. Hoyle, Assistant Secretary of the Comission.

Please send me copies of all correspondence, memoranda, reports, studies and other documents regarding the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's closed meetings held on Grand Gulf 1 on July 31, 1984. Grand Gulf 1,
located near Port Gibson, Miss., is owned by Middle South Energy Inc.
and operated by Mississippi Power & Light Co.
The Freedom of Information Act provides that if portions of a document are exempt from release, the remainder must be segregated and disclosed. Therefore, I will expect you to send me all nonexempt portions of the records which I have requested, and ask that you justify any deletions by reference to specific exemptions from the Freedom of Information Act.
