% F. Spring Can Stops Installed: Verify that spring can stops have been installed (Ref: 6.9F,3.2.6).

G. Spherical Bearings: Verify that spherical bearings and sway struts have been acceptably installed as per the requirements of Appendix 6.9F and as noted below:

NOTE 4: The sway strut unit is composed of the pipe clamp

(- assembly, Figure 11.1-20-1, the rear bracket assembly, Figure 11.1-20-2, and the sway strut assembly Figure 11.1-20-3.

NOTE 5: The pipe clamp assembly, Figure 11.1-20-1, consists of the pipe clamp halves, clamp bolts, spacer and nuts, a threaded or non-threaded high strength pin, two flat

' washers and either high-strength nuts or cotter pins, depending on vendor.

When assembled for inspection, the washers nust be installed between the clamp halves with the high-strength pin. Under no circumstances shall the clamp bolts be interchanged with the high-strength pin.

~

NOTE 6: The rear bracket assembly consists of the rear bracket, 2 flat washers, and a high-strength pin held in posi-tion by cotter pins or split snap rings (Figure 11.1-20-2). When inspecting this assembly, verify the washers are installed on the inside of the bracket arms, one on either side of the sway strut spherical bearing. If cotter pins are used, they should be the maximum size the hole will accommodate and shall be full opened. If split snap rings are installed, they should be examined to verify the rings are not broken, j sprung or deformed. 1

BROWN & ROOT, INC. ISSUE CPSES NUMBER REVISION DATE PAGE JOB 35-1195 (Supplement to 6.9F-V) OI-0AP-11.1-20 7 8-28-80 5 of 7 NOTE 7 : The sway strut consists of the strut body, adjustable spherical bearing ends, and one or more jamb nuts '(see Figure 11.1-20-3). The spherical bearing should be tightly staked in the adjustable ends and shall have a washer on'either side when installed. The sway strut should have the correct adjustment as per the design drawing and the jamb nut (s) shall be tight. If engage-ment sight holes are present on the strut body, thread engagement shall be verified.

NOTE 8: When correctly installed, the sway strut unit will allow misalignment up to 6* from sway strut centerline (12* included angle). The 6* of freedom is given by the spherical bearings and their relationship to the flat washers. Normally the thicker flat washers are installed on the clamp end, the thinner washers on the rear bracket end.

H. All Welds / Drawings and WPS (VT): Perform final examination of the overall assembly as required by OI-0AP-11.1-26,

/ NDEP-200, Appendices 6.90 and F. Verify that the Weld Filler Material, and WPSs used were correct and acceptable and that all welders

  • were qualified for the work performed.

I. Nondestructive Examination: Perform and inspect as required by the documentation (

Reference:

Supplement 6.9D-II, and the NDEP Manual.)

J. In-process Inspections: If in-process welding inspections are required by the documentation, inspect as per Appendix 6.90 and the drawing.

3.2 SEISMIC LIMTER (SNUBBER) INSPECTION NOTE: Inspection of seismic limiters shall be performed in accordance with hold points established in the Opera-tion Traveler, Hanger Package or on a checklist (See Example Figure 11.1-20-6) and shall be inspected as required below:

3.2.1 Seismic Limiters Seismic limiters will be installed as shown on the drawing using the inspection criteria set forth in this procedure.
