2.0 INTRODUCTION

2.1 PURPOSE The purpose of this procedure is to prescribe the acceptable method of fabricating, storing, and installing cable tray and cable tray supports in Category 1 buildings. 2.2 SCOPE The scope of this procedure covers fabrication, painting, ' erection, installation, welding, storing, and inspection of cable trays and cable tray supports in Category 1 buildings. It also covers the preparation and controlling of hanger location and fabrication drawings. 2.3 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 2.3.1 Material Sources 2.3.1.1 Cable trays and fittings e purchased in accordance with Specification ES-19. 2.3.1.2 Grounding fittings are to be those purchased as called for on the Bill of Materials Drawing El-1800. 2.3.1.3 Material used for identification are to be purchased in accordance with Specification ES-100. 2.3.1.4 Patent structural items are to be those purchased on safety-related purchase orders in compliance with Specification SS-16B. 2.3.1.5 Structural steel members (A36) are to be those obtained from the iron fab shop or designated "Q" storage areas. 3.0 PROCEDURE 3.1 PREPARATION OF HANGER LOCATION AND FABRICATION DRAWINGS 3.1.1 Preparation of Hancer Location Drawings Upon receipt of approved G&H engineering drawings, showing location and size of cable tray supports, the Civil Drafting Section shall prepare a suppoot map as follows:

Obtain a full size legible copy of the plan drawing showing the location of the support hangers. 2. Identify the print as a cable. tray support map and list the FSE number assigned by Document Control Center to its title block. 3. Identify each cable tray support with a unique number. If more than one support is at a specif

Upon completion of drawing,. bm1 to the Project Civil Engineer or his designee for proval and transmit to Document Control Center for aperture card preparation and dis-tribution. 3.1.2 Precaration of Fabrication Drawinos Preparation of fabrication drawings FSE-00159 is to proceed as follows: 1. An undimensioned drawing shall be prepared for each con-figuration of support. Copies of these drawings shall be used for individual hanger detail drawings. 2. A detail drawing shall be prepared for each support by adding dimensions derived from the G&H drawing to each copy of the basic support type drawing. Location of thd hanger will be shown on the detail drawing. Attachments to concrete or embedded plates are shown for reference only. The determination of detail to be used will be made in the field in accordance with G&H drawings and FSE-00179. NOTE: FSE-00159 detail drawing's issued prior to 5-26-81 m.y not show the location of the support. Location on inese supports have been obtained by the field craft and quality control inspectors by the use of the support map drawing and the G&H design drawing. These detail drawings' issued prio.' to 5-26-81 are not required to be revised and re-issued to add the location of the support. VOID

The complete drawing shall be identified with the unique support number as the sheet number. Log the number in the Cable Tray Hanger Index to avoid duplication. (See Attach-ment 2). 4. The Project Civil Engineer or his designee will approve the detail drawings and distribute as follows: a. A copy of the original will be made. The original will be retained in the Civil Drafting section. b. The copy will be stamped with a controlled number and distributed by the use of Att, hment 1. A copy of Attachment I will be retained (in he Civil Drafting section. Controlled numbers for 'r'ed ients of the drawing will be the same as used by?tih B&R Document Control Center. ~ ?g 9 6. a 9 If it is determined thaif>tha hing6q cannot be erected per the detail drawing, fielFpersonne? shall contact the Field Structural Engineering GrouQr resolution. 6. The Field Structural Engineering Group will resolve the erection problems using Component Modification Caris (CMC's) or Design Change Authorization (DCA) and shall inform the Project Civil Engineer or his designee of any changes or modifications. 7. FSE-00159 will only be revised if a complete hanger refabrication is required via a CMC or DCA. The original hanger number shall remain the same. 8. Distribution of the revised drawing shall be made in accor-dance with Step 4 above. 3.1.3 Drawing Revisions 1. Upon receipt of an approved G&H Engineering Drawing [ revision showing location or configuration of revised g cable tray supports, identify it with the latest approved associated FSE Drawings per Section 3.1.1 and prepare fabrication drawings per Section 3.1.2. All revisions shall be shown on all drawings and area revised shall be noted. 0

If a hanger is voided per a CMC, DCA, or G&H Drawing revision, the FSE-00159 shall be marked " Void" and all pertinent information identifying the reason for voiding will be written on the FSE-00159. (i.e., void per CMC-I3656 etc.). 2. The revised FSE-00159 shall be distributed per Section 3.1.2.4. 3. The hanger location map drawing shall be revised to remove the voided hanger and distributed per Section 3.1.1.5. 4. The Cable Tray Hanger Index log shall also be revised to show voided hangers and retained he Civil Drafting section. The reason for voidi g t shall also be shown in log. 3.1.5 Lost or Damac_ed Hanc_ers 1. If a hanger is lost g ~ ior to being accepted by QC, it shall be rework rerabricated per applicable procedures. 2. The original cable tray hanger numb'er will remain the same. 3. If a hanger is damaged after being accepted by QC, a nonconformance or field deficiency report will be issued by QC in accordance with QA/QC procedures. Hanger will be modified in accordance with the disposition of the NCR or FDR. 3.2 FABRICATION OF HANGERS 3.2.1 Cable tray hangers may be either field or shop fabricated. Material shall be selected and cut in accordance with the fabrication detail drawing (FSE-00159). The sheet number of the fabrication detail drawing (unique hanger number) shall be marked on each piece cut. 3.2.2 Welding shall be performed as indicated on the detail FSE-00159 drawing, associated FSE-00179 and approved G&H drawings by welders qualified to AWS 01.1 and B&R welding specification WES-029. QC inspection of welding shall be performed prior to painting. 3.2.3 Upon completion of work on the fabricated assembly and before painting, the unique number assigned per FSE-00159, shall be stamped on the support where it shall remain visible after the cable tray is installed. This shall be done using approved marking dies. 3.2.4 After fabrication, components shall be painted in accordance with CCP-30 or CCP-30A, as applicable. g: 3.2.5 Protective Coating Traceability M, H All shop coated steel that require tive co g su:i 'or l installation in the Reactor Buil% n be stamped with a unique 1 coating code number. ,3 Unique code numbers shalMb as g ne' and applied in accordance with Q CCP-30 and CCP-30A. Upon division of materials,Xtje unique coating code number shall be transferred along with other unique material identification numbers. The transfer of unique coating code numbers shall be witnessed by QC. Additionally, upon division of material, any Q-coated steel that remains in stock shall maintain its coating code number. If coating code number transfer is necessary to accomplish this, it shall be witnessed by QC. 3.3 INSTALLATION OF SUPPORTS 3.3.1 Cable tray supports shall be installed per associated FSE-00159, FSE-00179 and approved G&H drawings. All bolted connections shall be in accordance with CEI-20, approved G&H drawings and the AISC Code (Latest Edition). All welded connections shall be performed per Section 3.2.2 and be in accordance with CCP-45, 3.3.2 If gap (s) exist between the base plate and concrete which exceed .0625" in depth and the gap (s) involve more than 20% of the base plate surface area, an approved epoxy grout may be used to increase the bearing surface of the plate. Thickness of the epoxy grout shall not exceed.5" in depth. Grouting operations shall be performed in accordance with B&R Engineering Instruction 35-1195-CEI-25. 3.4 OPERATION TRAVELERS 3.4.1 All field fabricated and installed hangers shall be performed using ECP-10 Rev. 5 DCN #5 2/3/82 Sheet 2 of 2

(See Attachment 3). 3.4.2 All shop fabricated hangers will be documented in accordance with applicable QC procedures. 3.4.3 All rework shall be performed using a rework traveler in accordance with CP-CPM 6.3. (See Attachment 4). 3.4.4 Conduit supports attached to cable tray hangers will require Engineering approval and will be installed and documented in accordance with ECP-19. 3.5 HANDLING OF CABLE TRAY SUPPORTS r c@ 3.5.1 All cable tray supports shall be handled and with MCP-10. f.. Any damage to the galvani7ed finish of the cable tray, including field cuts is to be repaired by application of galvanax paint within twenty-four hours. 3.6.4 Welding of cable tray fittings and miscellaneous hardware (splice plates, heavy duty plates, SP9 clips, etc.) shall be done as indi-cated on G&H drawings by welders qualified to AWS D1.1 and WES-29. Weld procedure specification (WPS) approval will be obtained from Welding Engineering on a case by case basis. 3.6.5 Welded cable tray fittings will bs documented in accordance with the applicable QC procedures. A unique "E" number will be assigned to each fitting which will signify acceptance and provide traceability. A log shall be kept in the welding shop by the Electrical department. Welded miscellaneous hardware (splice plates, heavy duty plates, SP9 clips, etc) will be documented on operation traveler in accordance with CP-CPM 6.3. (See Attachment 3 and 4). 3.6.6 Grounding of cable tray is to be done in accordance with the details i on the G&H Engineering drawing. 3.6.7 Cable tray covers shall be installed in accordance with approved G&H drawings.
