Attn: Mr. James P. O'Reilly, Regional Administrator. '

101 Marietta Street, NW, Suite 2900 Atlanta, Georgia 30323

Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

BELLEFONTE NUCLEAR PLANT UNITS 1 AND 2 - REVISED REPORT TO NRC REQUEST FOR INFORMATION TVA responded to R. C. Lewis' letter &ted January 14 , 1984, report numbers 50-438/83-31, 50-439/83-31 concerning our program to identify the applica-bility of vendor information to safety-related structures, systems, and components by letter dated March 30, 1984. This was followed by our supplemental report dated June 25, 1984. Below is a revised report to the -

NRC request for information.

As discussed with Inspector P. E. Fredrickson on August 28, 29, and 30, 1984, TVA has moonsidered our position on the handling of vendor manuals and determined that the specific commitments contained in our March 30, 1984 response need to be reevaluated; consequently, Interdivisional Procedure 52.05 will not be issued by September 1,1984. TVA has moeived the Nuclear Utility Task Analysis Corsittee (NUTAC) report on Generic Letter 83-28, Section 2.2.2 and lias appointed an interdivisional task force to myiew our control of vendor manuals. The appropriate administrative controls in the NUTAC report will be reflected in an interdivisional procedure. A schedule for the issue and implementation of this program will be forwarded on or before November 1, 1984.

If you have any questions concerning this matter, please get in touch with R. H. Shell at FTS 858-2688.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORIT'Y

.  ?=

L. M. Mills, Manager.
