I am writing to you in reference to the Nuclear Regulatory Commiusion's review of reactors designed by Babcock & Wilcox.
One of the B &N reactors, Davio-Besse, is 100 miles from my d i s t r i c t.,
and my constituents have expressed concern over this issue.
Specifically, they have asked about NRC consideration of a petition filed by the Union of Concerned S c i e n t !. s '. ', "For Immediate Action to Relieve Undue Risk Posed by Mutlear Power Plants Designed by Babcock
& Wilcox,"
I agree that the petitiou raises a number of issues which require serious consideration by the Commission.
In addition, I believe the Commisrion should grant the highest prior.i.ty to completing the current NRC and B & W Owners' Group Assessment of Babcock & Wilcox plants-.
I request thst the Committee keep me fully apprised of all developments concerning both the UCS petition and the ongoing NRC reassessment of Babcock & Wilcox reactors.
