B&WOG Response to NRC Bulletin 88-11 This responds to'your letters of February 24, 1989 and March 22, 1989 in which you requested scheduler relief regarding one aspect of the actions requested in NRC Bulletin 88-11, " Pressurizer Surge Line Thermal Stratification." Your letter was written on behalf of the following: ANO-1; Oconee 1, 2, 3; Crystal River 3; TMI-1; Rancho Seco; Davis-Besse; Bellefonte 1, 2.
In your letter of.
March 22, 1989 you have indicated that thermal striping has not been considered quantitatively for' the B&W plants. Hence, a justification for continued operation will be provided to address the bulletin's concerns until the final' and comprehensive report is issued in October 1989.
Regarding your suggestion for a meeting on April 7,1989 the staff agrees that the meeting would be beneficial,-and supports the date. We plan to discuss your scheduler proposal during the meeting and we shall provide you with our response at that time.
