BELLEFONTE NUCLEAR PLANT (BLN) UNITS 1 AND 2 - IE BULLETIN 85 STEAM BINDING OF AUXILIARY FEEDWATER PUMPS In response to IE Dulletin 85-01 issued October 29, 1985, TVA commits to the following actions for BLN.
Auxiliary feedwater pump discharge temperature will be monitored at BLN.
The modifications and/or procedural requirements necessary to accomplish this will be completed before unit 1 fuel load.
The procedures to be developed will meet the intent of the bulletin regarding monitoring fluid conditions, recognizing steam binding, and restoring the auxiliary feedwater system to operable status should steam binding occur.
These procedural controls will be developed and remain in effect unless and until hardware modifications substantially reducing the likelihood of steam binding are implemented.
