Dear Sirs:

Three Mile Island N(clear Station, Unit 2 (THI-2)

Operating License No. DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Acci&nt Geterated Water Disposal System Description The Accident Generate <1 Eater Disposal System Oescription is forwarded for your information. The systm escription is a compilation of the most accurate design informatJcn wrrently available, and may change as the final system design evolves. The Accident Generated Water Disposal System Description is an evol<ing documnt and is subject to change until the detailed system design is finalized.

GPU Nucledt has recently authorized the system verdor to proceed with the final design and fabrication of its evaporator system for the specific TMI-2 application. GPU MJclear has decided to begin final design and fabrication prior to caproval of Technical Specification Change Request (TSCR) No. 56 in enticipation that the nngoing Atomic Safety and Licensing Board review of TSCR No, M ;ind the associated proposal to dispose of the Accident Generated Water oy eveMration will result in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approval to pZTced as proposed and because design fabrication, installation, and test of the system would otherwise PMd some nine (9) months delay in cocinencing tiisposal of the water upon receipt of NRC approval. Delay in commencing water disposal would recult in ccr.rtensurate delays in the overall completion of ficcident Generated Water disposal and cocpletion of the clean up effort at TMI-2.
