The Action Statement of Technical l Specification 3.3.7.5 was entered at the time. The Action Statement requires that either the Noble Gao Monitor be restored to operable status within 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br /> or the preplanned alternate method of monitoring the FRVS Vent Flow be initiated and a Special Report be submitted to the NRC within 14 days. The Noble Gas Monitor was restored to acrvice on March 25, 1987 at 2350 hours0.0272 days <br />0.653 hours <br />0.00389 weeks <br />8.94175e-4 months <br /> and the Action Statement was terminated. h2EbEEDT CbDBE DE DCCDBBEDCL The root cause of thin occurrence in equipment failure during the performance of a acheduled test, hDhEYB1B DE DCCDBBEDCE During the performance of the Iligh-Range CD TE Effluent Monitor Gas Efficiency Determination (RP-TE.SP-012(Q)) on the Noble Gas Monitor (lSP-RE-4811B2) the connector on the cable running from the electronica onclonure to the mid-range detector was observed to be intermittently non-functional. A replacement connector was not availabic from atorea and it was necessary to purchase the needed replacement from local commercial sources.

In this earlier occurrence the Mid-Range Noble Gas Monitor for the ]

1 FRVS Vent was out of service for more than 72 hours8.333333e-4 days <br />0.02 hours <br />1.190476e-4 weeks <br />2.7396e-5 months <br />. The cause of this earlier occurrence was intermittent functionality of the detector due to a crimped cable. Since the FRVS Vent Path was monitored by the preplanned alternate method of monitoring during l the period in which the Post Accident Radiation Monitor was inoperable, any release which occurred would have.been detected l and safety systems would have actuated to prevent a release in l l

excess of that permitted by Technical Specification 3.11.2.5. l During this time FRVS did not operate, indicating' that no abnormal releases occurred. For these reasons the health and safety of the public was not threatened by this occurrence, r CDEBECT125 hCTIDEB l

The FRVS Vent Noble Gas Monitor was repaired, retested satisfactorily and returned to service.
