i SPECIAL REPORT 95-05 HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION EACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-57 1
DOCKET NO. 50-354 This Special Report is being submitted pursuant to the requirements of Hope Creek Technical Specification 4.8.1.1.3, due to the "B" Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) failure on November 26, 1995.
The EDG was running in an unloaded condition in preparation for a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> endurance run surveillance test.
As a result of a defective Bailey logic card, an autoclose logic condition was satisfied prior to synchronization and the EDG-j breaker automatically closed and immediately tripped.
The plant was shutdown for a refueling outage at the time of the test
' failure.
This was the second failure of the "B" EDG in the last 100 valid tests.
A new Bailey card was installed and the EDG retested satisfactorily.
Troubleshooting of the defective Bailey logic card is continuing in order to determine the cause of its failure.
The "B" EDG will be restored to an operable status upon completion of scheduled maintenance and testing.
The current test frequency for the "B" EDG is monthly, in accordance with the guidance provided in Technical Specification Table 4.8.1.1.2-1.
