HOPE CREEK-GENERATING-STATION DOCKET NO. 50-354 UNIT.NO. 1 SPECIAL REPORT 90-003 4
This Special Report is being submitted pursuant to the requirements of flope Creek Technical-Specification 3.3.7.9 due to
- the: Loose Parts Detection System-being inoperable for more-than 30idays.
The;above-. specification requires a report to the -NRC within 10 days -- f ollowing ' the system being inoperable for 'more than.30 days.-
Prior to the. system being declared inoperable, there was no indication of loose parts in the reacter' vessel.
On 10/29/90, tho' Loose. Parts Detection -SystemL was ' declared
~ inoperable due to'- 'fallure of the system recorder power supply..
Due to the age' of the system, obtaining a'new-recorder was not possible, however, a.new-power-supply for the recorder: was
' located.
As of:12/5/90,-a new. power supply for the. recorder has been delivered,
-and will be installed at the first available
-opportunity.
It is expected that the system-will be returned to operability prior to 12/30/90.
Two; followup actions; are being taken:
1); Spare parts. inventory for-theEsystem_is being reviewed, and 2)
Theeneed for a-design change to: update system hardware is being evaluated.
