Dear Mr. Martin:

s The following information clarifies and reaffirms the District's position on the backlog of maintenance work requests with respect to restart.

I In a continued effort to ready the plant for restart, the Haintenance  !

Department has significantly reduced the backlog of both predictive / preventive l (PM) and corrective maintenance work requests (CMHRs). All PH work requests )

on equipment deemed important to safety at Rancho Seco will be current before restart, while PHs on equipment considered important to plant reliability will be current by the end of the next refueling outage. A PH is considered current ,

if the last performance is within its scheduled cycle. j l

Our program requires CMHRs to be reviewed and an evaluation of the impact on plant safety performed. All CMHRs which affect the operability of equipment l important to safety will be completed before restart. All other CHHRs will be '

worked as equipment, materials, cnd manpower availability allow, with an overall goal of having less than a one month backlog by restart. Since work requests are being generated continuously, it is very unlikely the entire backlog could be eliminated.

If there are any questions on this matter, please contact Steve Crunk, extension 4913 at Rancho Secc.

Sincerely, 8802100205 DR Apocg y999993 000119 i PDR G Car Ando ni  :
