SUBJECT:

THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION 7 UNIT 1 d-DOCKET NO. 50-289

Dear Mr. Giambusso:

Enclosed please find fif ty (50) copies of the report entitled " Ring Girder Surveillance". This report is intended to provide you with complete information concerning our surveillance of the ring girder to date in fulfilling of previous commitments to you.

These commitments may be found in the following:

1." Report on the Containment Building Ring Girder Construction and Repair," December 7, 1971.

Section 6:01.

2." Addendum to the Ring Girder Report", January 21, 1972. Sections 2.0 and 3.0.

All observations indicate that the repaired ring girder has fulfilled the intended design function at the comolecion of full prestress. No cracks equal to or greater than 0.005 inches in width have been observed.

In no case do the stresses in the rinforcing bars being monitored by strain gages exceed the allowable tensile stress.

Very truly yours,~I- . c, ..e., J. G. Miller 1584 329 Vice President asb Enclosures I', U 3 i
