Dear Mr. Firlit:

SilBJECT: REVISED PRIMARY COOLANT IODINE LIMIT COMMITMENT This acknowledges the receipt of the District's letter dated February 13, 1989 that clarifies the District's response to Generic Letter 85-02. Spec Jically, the District revised the administrative limit of the primary coolant Iodine-131 concentration and.its implementation.

Based on the discussions held between NRC staff and Mr. Richard Mannheimer of your staff, it is our understanding that in order to maintain consistency between the Rancho Seco Technical Specifications and the B&W Standard Technical Specifications (NUREG-0103), the administrative primary coolant iodine concen-tration limit curve will be revised to reflect mci / gram dose equivalent I-131 as intended. We find the clarifications submitted by the subject letter in addition to the above sumarized understanding of your proposed action, to be consistent with the intent of Generic Letter 85-02. Accordingly, the District's revised primary coolant iodine limit comitment is acceptable.

Sincerely,

/s/
