UNSCHEDULED SHUTDOWN GREATER THAN 48 HOURS l

Virginia Electric and Power Company (VEPC0) has taken North Anna Unit 1 out of service for about 14 days to repair steam generator tube leaks and to perform other maintenance.

The unit was shut down at 4:17 a.m. (EDT) on August 2 before leakage in the 1A steam generator exceeded the technical specification limit of 500 gallons per day in a single steam generator. The leakage in the 1A steam generator was calculated at 100 gallons per day.

North Anna Unit 2 is operating at 100 percent power.

VEPC0 is prepared to respond to media inquiries.

The Commonwealth of Virginia has been informed.
