PRELIHlNARY NOTIFICATION August 1, 1978 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE PNS-78-37A This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by lE staff as of this date.

SUBJECT:
ANTINUCLEAR DEMONSTRATIONS SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 6,1978 A Washington D. C. Television station newscast on July 31, indicated that a local environmental group, The POTOMAC ALLIANCE is planning a march from Charlottesville, Virginia toward the North Anna site at Mineral, Virginia on Saturday, August 5.
The newscast did not indicate the size nor reason for the demonstration; however, VEPC0 has informed our Region II office that they believe two groups are involved - The PIEDMONT ALLIANCE and The RICHMOND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY COMMITTEE. The groups plan to march from Charlottesville on August 3 and arrive in Mineral, Virginia on August 6.
Upon arrival in Mineral, the groups plan to launch a balloon.
Reportedly, the groups plan to O
attend a meeting between VEPC0 and the Louisa County Board of Supervisors on August 7 concerning VEPC0's plans to increase the spent fuel storage capability of North Anna Unit Nos. 1 and 2.
