Dear Mr. Ward:
SUBJECT:
RANCP0 SEC0 NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION-GENERIC LETTER 83-28, ITEM 4.5.2, ENTITLED REACTOR TRIP SYSTEM RELIABILITY ON-LINE TESTING Generic letter 83-28, Item 4.5.2 required the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) to confirm that Rancho Seco is designed to permit periodic on-line testing of the Peactor Trip System and, if not, to,iustify not making modifications to permit such testing. SMUD's response ~ letter dated November 4, 1983 indicated that the plant will be designed to permit the required periodic-on-line testing. We have reviewed the SMUD response and find it acceptable.
Our Safety Evaluation (SE) and the Technical Evaluation Report (TER) by our contractor, EG&E Idaho, Inc., are enclosed for your information. This completes Item 4.5.2 of Generic letter 83-28 for the Rancho Seco Puclear Generating Station.
Sincerely,
/S/
John F. Stolz, Director PWR Project Directorate #6 Division of PWR Licensing-B
