50-296 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) - MONTHLY OPERATING REPORTS TVA scheltt.ed the BFN monthly operating report for January 1989 in a letter dated March 2,1989, in ncordance with BFN Technical Specification 6.9.1.3.

That report and the subsequent monthly operating reports for February 1989 through January 1990 contained discrepancies.

The discrepancies are pinor in nature and did not affect the BFN operating data published in N'JREG-0020,

" Licensed Operating Reactors (Status Summary Report)."

The discrepancies In';nived the cumulative unit service factors, unit avai7 ability factors, unit capacity factors, number of ho rs and nat electric go,v ration, reported from January 1989 through January 19)0, and the year-to-date net electric generation reported for July and December 1989.

The discrepancies occurred when the computer ledger for tracking BFN operating data was converted from 1988 to 1989.

This conversion added approximately three extra years worth of previous data to the cumulative number of hours and the cumulative net electric generation for January 1989.

The cumulative unit service factors, unit availability factors, unit capacity factors, number of hours and net electric generation were affected since they are calculated from the number of hours in the reporting period.

The discrepancies reported in the January 1989 monthly operating report were carried over into the subsequent DFN monthly operating reports for February 1989 through January 1990 resulting in stallar discrepancies.

Additionally, the year-to-date net electric generation reported for July and December 1989 were repeats of the previous month's total.

TVA's records have been corrected and the computer program utilized to track BFN opercting data has bien revised to prevent this error from recurring.

Attached are corrected BfN operating data reports for January 1989 through January 1990. The corrections are indicated by revision bars.
