(UFSAR). As directed by 10 CFR 50.4 (b) (6) previous updates have been submitted as follows: the signed original and 10 copies to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Document Control Desk, Washington D.C. 20555; one (1) copy to NRC Region II Office; and one (1) copy to the Senior Resident Inspector assigned to BFN. Furthermore, the copies of the UFSAR were reproduced in permanent form on unglazed paper in compliance with 10 CFR 50.4 (c) .

Pursuant to 10 CFR 50.4 (c) BFN requests an exception to the requirement to provide a total of twelve paper copies when submitting revisions to the BFN UFSAR. Alternately, RFN seeks approval to submit only the signed paper original, one (1) copy, and six (6) CD-ROM versions of the document.

Each CD-ROM will include the entire UFSAR in portable document format (PDF), installation software that consists of Adobe Acrobat Reader (to access the PDF files), and an 9910120287 991001 PDR ADOCK 05000259 u,6o) /

PDF files on the'CD-ROM will be optimized to support internet/intranet byteserving witnout further processing.

The UFSAR files onEthe CD-ROM will not contain any material that is subject to 1NA copyright 1 restrictions or information that is exempt from public disclosure. The Adobe' Acrobat' Reader software includes an electronic end-user license-

-agreement that allows unlimited reproduction and distribution of: copies'to other entitics provided the. license agreement, copyright notices, and other proprietary notices appearing on or in the software are included in each copy.

The next planned submittal of a revision to the BFN UFSAR is currently schedraled for November of 1999. To minimize our submittals in paper form, TVA requests approval of this exception'by Getober 22, 1999.
