Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-416 and 50-417 File 0260/0652/1006 Safety Relief Valve Loads Confirmatory Data AECM-81/453 This letter documents our meeting of November 13, 1981, with regard to the confirmatory data which was presented for safety relief valve containment loads at Grand Gulf. We feel that Kuosheng data is confirmatory, and our review of that data has verified a conservative design. As discussed, similarity criteria outlined in NUREG-0763 indicates that the data is prototypical to Grand Gulf, and our review of pressure, strain, and building response data has been completed relative to the Grand Gulf design.

Attached are copies of meeting slides presented by MP&L on November 13, 1981. In addition we are providing a copy of the " Quick Look Test Report," prepariu by NUTECH on the Kuosheng testing. Certain information contained in the meeting slides and Kuosheng testing report is held to be proprietary to Taiwan Power Company and has been released by Taiwan Power to MP&L solely for the purpose of supporting the NRC review of the Grand Gulf license application. We therefore request that this information be handled as proprietary in accordance with 10 CFP 2.790. Five copies of all attachments are provided for your use.

One additional copy of the " Quick Look Test Report" was provided to your staff at. the above referenced meeting. A final report on the Kuosheng testing along with our review will be provided in March of 1982.
