The standby bearing water makeup pump was taken out of service with the reactor at power. This is a degraaed mode of LCO 4.2.2 and is reportable per Fort St. Vraic Technical Specification AC 7.5.2(b)2.

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

On August 12, 1981, with the reactor operating at 46% thermal power and 150 MWe, a bonnet leak in a valve in the suction line to the standby bearing water makeup pump necessitated the pump be removed from service to repair the valve. The bonnet leak did not, in itself, render the pump inoperable. The standby bearing water makeup pump was uut of service from 1300 hours0.015 days <br />0.361 hours <br />0.00215 weeks <br />4.9465e-4 months <br /> until 1505 hours0.0174 days <br />0.418 hours <br />0.00249 weeks <br />5.726525e-4 months <br /> on August 12, 1981. Had it been required, the emergency bearing water makeup pump was available for service during this time.

CAUSE DESCRIPTION:

The cause of this event was the removal from service of a bearing water makaup pump with the reactor at power.

CORRECTI;E ACTION:

Upon completion of 'the valve repair, the pump was returned to service.

No further corrective action is anticipated or required.
