l By letter dated May 23, 1997, as supplemented by letter dated May 30, 1997, Entergy Operations, Inc. requested deviations from the Regulatory Guide I.97 i recommendations for containment isolation valve position monitoring instrumentation at the Waterford Steam Electric Station, Unit 3.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has reviewed the proposed deviations and concluded that they are acceptable. Enclosure 1 is our Supplemental i Safety Evaluation Report.
