  • Attended exit interview Exit Interview The inspection scope and findings were summarized on May 28, 1982, with those persons indicated in paragraph 1 abov . Licensee Action on Previous Inspection Findings (0 pen) Unresolved Item (50-413/80-24-02 and 50-414/80-20-02): Curing Compounds on Construction Joint Curing compounds were used on con-struction joints in apparent conflict with paragraph twelve of ACI 301.7 The licensee performed an evaluation of their design methods and confirmed that they did not take credit for bond for transfer of shear at construction joints. The licensee submitted the results of this evaluation to NRC in a letter dated August 24, 1981. The licensee in Revision 18 to specification CNS-1109.00-1, " Specification for Structural Concrete for Buildings," clari-fied and addressed provisions when bond is required in construction joint The inspector reviewed specification CNS-1109.00- In their August 24, 1981 letter, the licensee stated that use of curing compounds on construc-tion joints had been discontinued. This item remains open pending review by NRC Region II of the licensee's design calculation and design method . Independent Inspection Effort The inspector examined drawing number CN 1220-1, Ground Water Drainage, Plan, Sections, and Detail The inspector reviewed groundwater level readings collected from observation wells (piezometers) in the powerblock area for the year 198 No violations or deviations were identifie . Safety-Related Pipe Supports and Restraint Systems (500908) - Units 1 and 2 The inspector reviewed the following procedures which control installa-tion and inspection of pipe supports and restraints:

(1) Specification Number CNS-1196.02-00-0000, Specification for the Field Installation of Concrete Expansion Anchors (2) Specification Number CNS-1206.00-04-0003, Procedure Requirements for Fabrication and Erection of Hangers, Supports, and Seismic Controls (3) QA Procedure Number M-15, Installed Pipe Support Inspection (4) QA Procedure Number M-52, Concrete Expansion Anchor Installation Inspection (5) Construction Procedure Number CP-115, Installation of Concrete Expansion Anchors (6) Construction Procedure Number CP-353, Adjustment, Installation and Modification of Pre-Engineered Hanger Components (7) Construction Procedure Number CP-385, Support / Restraint Erection Tolerances (8) Construction Procedure Number CP-389, Piping and Value Erection Tolerances (9) Construction Procedure Number CP-394, Piping Exceeding Erection Tolerance (10) Construction Procedure Number CP-439, Concrete Expansion Anchor Testing (11) Construction Procedure Number CP-441, Abandoned Drill Hole Repair Acceptance criteria examined by the inspector appear in FSAR Sections 3.9.3.1.5 and 17.1, FSAR Table 3.2.2-3, the ASME Boiler ar.d Pressure Vessel Code,Section III, Subsection NF, 1974 Edition plus addenda through Summer 1975, and licensee commitments contained in their responses to IE Bulletins 79-02 and 79-1 s O 3 The inspector examined storage of pipe support and restraint materials for conformance to DPC storage requirements. The inspector toured the pipe support / restraint fabrication shop anc examined ongoing fabrica-tion of pipe supports and restraints. The inspector discussed proce-dure requirements for fabrication and inspection of supports / restraints with construction craftsmen, QC inspector, and a QA enginee The inspector toured the auxiliary building and examined ongoing pipe support / restraint installations and discussed procedure requirements with construction craf tsmen performing the wor The inspector examined training records for two civil-mechanical QC inspections and verified that they were qualified to perform inspec-tions for installation of concrete expansion anchor. The inspector examined qualification records of 20 construction craftsmen performing concrete expansion anchor installation No violations or deviations were identified.
