Noncompliance with NPDES Permit Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Permit No. PA 0009733 Gentlemen:

DESCRIPTION OF NONCOMPLIA_NCE:

The total phosphorus of a sample taken from discharge point 501 (Sewage Treatment Plant) exceeded the monthly average.

Permit Limitation: 2.0 pnm monthly average Monthly Average 2.7 ppm CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE: 1 The cause of the first noncompliance is high solids carryover from the 1 clarifiers. The second and third noncompliances were caused by lower than i normal pHs which interfered with the alum removal of phosphorus.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The corrective action has been to increase the alum to the sewage plant equalization basin, We have been monitoring the daily effluent for phosphorus, using a short form method, and the results are consistently less than 2.0 ppm.
