Gentlement DESCRIPTION OP NONCOMPLTANCE:
The total phosphorus of samples taken from discharge point 503 (Sewage Treatment Plant) exceeded the monthly average and maximum permit limit.

2.0 ppa monthly average 4.0 ppm instantaneous maximum CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE:
The cause of the noncompliance is an inability of the Sewage Treatatant Plant to continuously reduce the phosphorus level below the permit limits.
DURATION OF NONCOMPLIANCE:
The duration of the noncompliance has been intermittent since the receipt of the new permit in October, 1985.
I CORRECTIVE ACTION:
i The corrective action is to use a solution of ferrio chloride instead of Ultrion to precipitate the the phosphorus out of the waste water.
This is a recommendation from DCM consultants.
The ultrion was used for several months, but was not successful in maintaining phosphorus levels below 2 ppa.
Ferric chloride injection started on January 20, 1988.

Although fearle chloride injection was started on January 20, 1988, leako in the system have prevented controlled injection of the. solution.
Parts have been ordered to repair the system.
The repair in expected to be complete by mid February.
