DESCRIPTION OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

The BOD of a sample taken from discharge point 501 (Sewage Treatment Plant) exceeded the monthly average permit limit.

Date Sample Taken: 3/1/89 3/21/89 3/23/89 3/28/89 3/30/89 Date Results Received: 3/21/89 4/3/89 4/3/89 4/10/89 4/10/89 Results of Analysis: 58 mg/l 28 mg/l 35.mg/l 33.mg/l 46 mg/l Permit Limitation: 30 Average 60 mg/l Maximum Monthly Average 40 mg/l CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

The cause'of the noncompliance was an increase in the sewage treatment plant loading due to an increase in the power plant outage work force.

DURATION OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

The duration of the noncompliance was thirty-one days.

CORRECTIVE ACTION,,

Upon receipt of the initial BOD sample, the sampling frequency was increased to determine the extent and cause of the high BOD.

PREVENTION OF FURTHER OCCURRENCES:

The prevention of further occurrences is to reduce the' input by having an off. site hauler pump from the equalization basin until plant conditions return L to normal.
