Dear Sir,

This letter is intended to amend our March 11, 1987 report to you relative to a potential problem with the static exciter voltage regulator reset design provided as a part of a DSR and DSRV standby diesel generator.

Upon further examination, we find similar equipment was also delivered to the following sites:

UTILITY SITE SERIAL NO. MODEL Washington Public Power WPPSS I 75084/85 DSRV-16-4 Georgia Power Vogtle 76021/24 DSRV-16-4 While this potential problem was originally identified at Georgia Power Vogtle Plant, it is our understanding that Georgia Power has already implemented corrective action.

Since the control circuitry of each site is designed differently, any modifications must be engineered independently and in conjunction with the uite engineering staff. Generic information will be provided by March 31, 1987. Completion time for the specific site engineering effort cannot be established as action is required by others and is beyond the control of IMO Delaval.

y Sincerely, I

e Bruce C. Guntrum Manager Quality Assurance BCG/dfc G703260298 DR 070219 ADOCK 0500G397 D PDR
