52882) - SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 By letter dated July 8, 1983, the NRC staff issued Generic Letter (GL) 83-28

" Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events." This GL addressed actions to be taken which assured that a comprehensive program of preventative maintenance and surveillance testing is implemented for reactor trip breakers (RTB). Item 2.1 of GL 83-28, " Equipment Classification and Vendor Interface," addresses the programs for assuring that (1) all components necessary for accomplishing required safety-related functions are properly identified in documents, procedures, and information handling systems that are used to control safety-related plant activities (Item 2.1.1.) and (2) vendor g

information for safety-related components is complete (Item 2.1.2).

By letters dated November 7, 1983 and April 1, 1987, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted information on GL 83-28, Items 4.2.1 and 4.2.2.

Enclosed is the staff's safety evaluation on these responses for Sequoyah.

We conclude that the programs for Sequoyah addressing these items are acceptable.

TVA stated in its letters that these programs have been implemented at Sequoyah.
