NRC INSPECTION Ri' PORT NO. 50-327/98-09 AND 50-328/98-09 AND
NOTICE OF VIOLATIGN
Dear Mr. Scalice:
This refers to the inspection conducted on August 30,1993 through October 10,1998 at the
Sequoyah Nuclear Plant facility. The enclosed report presents the results of this inspection.
During the inspection period, your conduct of activities at the Sequoyah facility was generally
characterized by good operations and maintenance. Engineering support was considered to be
acceptable and plant support was considered to be good in the area of radiological control.
Based on the results of this inspection, the NRC has determined that a violation of NRC
requirements occurred. The violation is cited in the enclosed Notice of Violation (NOV) and the
circumstances surrounding it are described in detail in the subject inspection report. The
violation involved failures to perform adequate testing to ensure that low voltage circuit breakers
would perform satisfactorily in service.
The NRC has concluded that information regarding the reason for the violation, and the
'
corrective actions taken and planned to correct the violation and prevent recurrence and the
date when full compliance will be achieved is already adequately addressed on the docket in
this report. Therefore, you are not required to respond to this letter unless the description
therein does not accurately reflect your corrective actions or your position. In that case, or if
you choose to provide additional information, you should follow the instructions specified in the
enclosed Notice.
