| | On October 4, 2012, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the NRC Region III office located in Lisle, IL. The meeting was between th e NRC, and Xcel Energy representatives to discuss the licensee's activities pertaining to the replacement of the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP), Unit 2 steam generators. |
| | The NRC began the meeting with a discussion of the purpose, agenda, and format of the meeting. The licensee then provided a presentation of their completed, in |
| | -progress, and future activities regarding the replacement of PINGP's , Unit 2 steam generators. During their presentation, the licensee also discussed plans for disassembly, removal, and disposition of the existing PINGP, Unit 2 steam generators. In addition, the licensee addressed in detail any applicable operating experience related to San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) steam generators issue for the new replacement steam generators for PINGP, Unit 2. The licensee provided information on the significant design differences between SONGS steam generators and PINGP, Unit 2 replacement steam generators. The NRC staff and management asked the licensee questions throughout the licensee's presentation. |
