SUMMARY
OF NOVEMBER 6, 2003, CATEGORY 2 MEETING, WITH NUCLEAR MANAGEMENT COMPANY, LLC, TO DISCUSS THE PLANNED LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUESTS USING ALTERNATE SOURCE TERM METHODOLOGY (TAC NOS. MC1253, MC1254, AND MC1262)
On November 6, 2003, a public meeting was held between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and representatives of the Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC), at NRC Headquarters. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss NMCs planned license amendment requests to use an alternate source term methodology at the Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant and the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Units 1 and 2. A notice for the meeting was issued on October 27, 2003 (ADAMS Accession No. ML033000326), and the notice was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web site.
The meeting consisted of (1) NMCs presentation of its planned selective implementation of alternate source term and associated technical specification changes at Prairie Island, Units 1 and 2 (ADAMS Accession No. ML033160324), (2) NMCs presentation of its planned containment equipment hatch technical specification change for Kewaunee (ADAMS Accession No. ML033160331), and (3) a general discussion between the NRC staff and NMC regarding these planned changes.
