SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE KEWAUNEE POWER STATION LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION (TAC NO.

MD9408)

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff conducted a public meeting with representatives from Dominion Energy Kewaunee (DEK) to discuss NRC staff-identified issues with the use of the Work Control Process (WCP) as an aging management program (AMP) in the Kewaunee Power Station (KPS) license renewal application (LRA). Approximately 20 people attended the meeting. The attendees included representatives of the NRC and representatives from DEK, no members of the public were in attendance.

During the meeting, DEK indicated that the LRA will be amended to make the WCP AMP consistent with the recommendations contained in the Generic Aging Lessons Learned Report.

The NRC staff indicated that it will assess the impact on the KPS overall review schedule once DEK submits the revisions to the LRA. Other aspects of the KPS LRA review, not affected by the AMP in question, are continuing as originally planned. The NRC staff also stated that the use of plant-specific AMPs in a LRA an acceptable approach as long as the applicant is able to satisfy the requirements contained in the Standard Review Plan for License Renewal.

A listing of the attendees is provided in the enclosure. A copy of the slides presented during the meeting are publicly available at the NRC Public Document Room (PDR), located at One White Flint North, 11555 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland 20852, or from the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The ADAMS Public Electronic Reading Room is accessible at http://adamswebsearch.nrc.gov/dologin.htm. The slides are listed under Accession No. ML092100603. Persons who do not have access to ADAMS, or who encounter problems in accessing the documents located in ADAMS, should contact the NRCs PDR reference staff by telephone at 1-800-397-4209, or 301-415-4737, or by e-mail at pdr.resource@nrc.gov.
