SUMMARY
OF THE OCTOBER 4, 2007, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE ONGOING SUBSTANTIVE CROSS-CUTTING ISSUES On October 4, 2007, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Kewaunee Municipal Building in Kewaunee, WI. The meeting was between NRC management, from both Region III and the NRC Headquarters, and Dominion Energy Kewaunee management to discuss the ongoing substantive cross-cutting issues in the areas of Problem Identification and Resolution and Human Performance at the Kewaunee Power Station. The meeting notice and the Dominion Energy Kewaunee presentation can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML072620307 and ML072780504, respectively. A list of the principal NRC and licensee meeting participants can be found in the attached Enclosure.
Mr. James Caldwell, Region III Administrator, opened the meeting with introductions of NRC officials, the reason for the meeting and then turned the meeting over to your staff.
Mr. David Christian opened the Dominion presentation explaining that Dominion management understands the importance of resolving the substantive cross-cutting issues. Ms. Leslie Hartz, Kewaunee Site Vice President, then led a presentation assisted by several other Dominion staff members that described Dominions recovery efforts to address the cross-cutting issues at the Kewaunee station in both the near and long term. The presentation summarized the actions taken to date and then described the actions going forward to correct and resolve both the Problem Identification and Resolution and Human Performance issues.
Mr. Bruce Mallet, Deputy Executive Director for Reactor and Preparedness Programs, Mr. James Wiggins, Deputy Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation and Mr. James Caldwell, Region III Administrator, concluded the meeting by thanking your staff for coming to the meeting and providing the information. They acknowledged the efforts taken to date and your planned efforts to address the cross-cutting issues at the Kewaunee plant.
