SUMMARY

OF THE APRIL 21, 2010, PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS THE 2009 KEWAUNEE END-OF-CYCLE PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT On April 21, 2010, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a public meeting at the Kewaunee Municipal Building in Kewaunee, Wisconsin. The meeting was between NRC representatives and Dominion Energy Kewaunee, Inc., representatives to discuss the NRCs 2009 End-of-Cycle Assessment of the Kewaunee Power Stations safety performance.

The results of that assessment were discussed in a letter to the licensee dated March 3, 2010, (ADAMS ML100610349).

The NRC began the meeting with an overview of the NRC, the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), National ROP results, and the Action Matrix. This was followed by a summary of the NRCs assessment of Kewaunee performance in 2009. The NRCs meeting presentation slides can be found in ADAMS at ML101130443. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the attached Enclosure.

Mr. Steven Scace, the Kewaunee site vice-president, provided the licensees perspective on the assessment, acknowledging the licensees position in the Licensee Response column of the NRCs Action Matrix. Mr. Scace also discussed common cause analyses that were being performed for several issues at the site and mentioned that the results of those analyses would be available for review by the resident inspectors. He also highlighted some of the capital improvements made recently or ongoing at the plant, particularly in the electrical distribution switchyard.

After the business portion of the meeting, NRC representatives spoke with two representatives of the State of Wisconsin emergency management organization on general issues of interaction between the NRC and the State.
