DOCKET NO. 50-312 LICENSE NO. DPR-54 AUXILIARY FEEDUATER HEADER MODIFICATION The Sacramento Municipal Utility District has stated during a meeting on May 18, 1982 that the details concerning modifications of the OTSG Auxiliary Feedwater Header would be forwarded to the Commission. The following in-formation is what I understand was requested at that meeting between Mr. J. J. Mattimoe and Mr. T. Ippolito from your office.

DIRECTOR OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION May 20,1982 ATTN: DARRELL G EISENHUT The drilling and facing operations will be done simultaneously for each penetration using a single machining setup. All modifications will meet the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code,Section XI, Class 2,1974 edi-tion with addenda through summer 1975.

The procedural details of the above operations havebeen reviewed and approved by the on-site Plant Review Committee. Controls have been established that limit the modifications only as stated in the procedure.

If conditions are encountered different than anticipated, due to the drilling and facing process, the OTSG will be blank flanged, refilled and an investigation of the problem will be undertaken. Continuation of the work will not progress until a satisfactory resolution to the problem is completed.
