AFFIDAVIT OF ADAM M. MADSEN IN SUPPORT OF LILCO'S REQUEST FOR STAY OF ALAB-902 Adam M. Madsen, being duly sworn, deposes and says as follows:
: 1. My name is Adam M. Madsen. My business address is Long Island Lighting Company,175 E. Old County Road, Hicksville, NY 11801,
: 2. I am currently Vice President, Corporate Planning, for the Long Island Lighting Company (LILCO). I have been employed by LILCO for over 27 years and have served in a number of positions, including Manager of Engineering and Manager of the Planning Department.
: 3. I hold a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Manhattan College and a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering Science from Long Island Uni-versity, and I am a registered Professional Engineer in the State of New York.
: 4. As Vice President for Corporate Planning, I have the overall responsibility for supervising and directing the development of the Company's electric load forecasts and the planning of the generation and transmission facilities needed to meet projected loads. In this role I have becomo personally familiar with the facts recited below, and they are true and correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.

: 5. LILCO has invested more than $5 billion in the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station. LILCO must pay carrying charges of approximately $30 million a month, or about $1 million a day, for as long as Shoreham does not operate.
The foregoing facts are known by me to be true, of my own knowledge. Iam t
competent to testify to such facts, and would so testify if I appeared as a witness in a public hearing on this matter.
