It was determined that ten (10) Rosemount Model 1151A transmitters scheduled to be used in a safety-related application were purchased by Bechtel for each unit at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station. These transmitters are identified with tag numbers IE30-LT-N004A/B, IE61-PDT-N013A-H, 2E30-LT-N004A/B, and 2E61-PDT-N013A-H. The E30 instruments measure narrow range suppression pool water level and the E61 instruments met.sure drywell/ containment differential pressure. This item was reported to the NRC by Bechtel under the reporting requirements of 10 CFR 21 on April 24, 1980.

The E30 and E61 transmitters listed above will be replaced with new transmitters before fuel loading which do , t have this same ambiguous characteristic in the over-range and under-r Q e condition, and which are qualified in accordance with IEEE 323-1974 and IEEE 344-1975.

It is requested that Mississippi Power & Light Company be granted a sixty day extension for completion of the NSSS affected portions of IE Bulletin 80-16. At that time we will complete our response concerning IE Bulletin 80-16. Should you have any further questions regarding this matter, please advise.

Yours truly,
