The only emission of the plants are water vapor. If the Federal government would allow for nuclear fuel reprocessing, then we could drive the physical waste of nuclear power plants down to zero.

As a person with a Master's degree in power energy, I can attest that large spinning mass generators are crucial to the stability of the grid. Without these spinning generators, large power swings can cause the grid to experience widespread brown or black outs. The reason is these generators supply inertia to the grid. Without this grid inertia, the frequency of the grid will not be stable. Large frequency oscillations can damage equipment or cause some protective devices to trip off line. This can cause many issues for large manufacturers who cannot have even a blip of power. It can also be a big inconvenience for people living at home not having the ability to turn on their lights, control the climate indoors, or even cook.

No nuclear power on the grid will cause carbon emissions to rise and power outages to rise as well. Not approving the license for North Anna will be a large detriment to our environment, the residents of the Commonwealth, and even residents of the mid-Atlantic region.
