SUMMARY

OF THE HISTORIC AND CULTURAL RESOURCES ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT MEETING RELATED TO THE REVIEW OF THE SUBSEQUENT LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION FOR THE NORTH ANNA POWER STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (EPID NUMBER: L-2020-SLE-0000)

On December 1, 2020, staff from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Pamunkey Indian Tribe participated in an environmental audit meeting with Dominion Energy Virginia (Dominion) addressing historic and cultural resources in the vicinity of the North Anna Power Station, Units 1 and 2 (North Anna) in Louisa and Spotsylvania counties, VA. The meeting, conducted virtually using the Microsoft Teams platform, was in regard to the environmental review of the North Anna subsequent license renewal application and the associated National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 consultation. The enclosure is a list of representatives from NRC, the Pamunkey Indian Tribe, and Dominion.

The NRC invited the Pamunkey Indian Tribe to join the meeting in response to the Tribes request to be a consulting party on this proposed undertaking (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession Number ML20329A439). Staff from the NRC, Dominion, and the Tribe participated in the discussion. The Pamunkey Indian Tribe Cultural Resource Director indicated that the Tribe has concerns regarding the timing of the license renewal application and how potential cumulative impacts would be assessed, particularly with regard CONTACT: Robert Hoffman, REFS/ELRB 301-415-1107

The majority of the discussion focused on communications that the applicant has had with Indian Tribes and the Virginia Department of Historic Resources related to this action, specifically the status of architectural surveys of facility structures being conducted to determine National Register of Historic Places eligibility.
