(DOCKET NUMBERS: 50-338 AND 50-339)

Dear Eric S. Carr:

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed the final site-specific Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) (Supplement 7a, Second Renewal, to NUREG-1437) for subsequent license renewal of renewed Facility Operating License Nos. NPF-4 and NPF-7 for an additional 20 yea rs of operation for North Anna Powe r Station, Units 1 and 2, respectively (NAPS). The NRC staff has prepared a Federal Register (FR) Notice of Availability (NOA)

(Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) (ML24208A020) to advise the public that the site-specific EIS is publicly available from ADAMS. The final site-specific EIS is ML24204A104. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC website at https://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html/.

As discussed in Chapter 4 of the plant-specific EIS, the NRC staffs recommendation is that the environmental impacts of subsequent license renewal for NAPS are reasonable for the license renewal action, preserving the option of license renewal for energ y plannin g. This recommendation is based on: (1) the Dominio n Environmental R eport; (2 ) the NRC staffs consultation with Federal, State, local, and Tribal government agencies; (3) the NRC staff's independent environmental review; and (4) the NRC staff's consideration of public comments.

A separate NOA of the final supplemental EIS was placed in the FR through the U.S.

Environmental Protection Agen cy (EPA) and published on July 26, 2024. The 30-day public review period end d ate is calculated from the date on which the EPA notice is published in the FR and it is scheduled for August 26, 2024.July 26, 2024 E. Carr 2 Should you have any questions concerning the staffs environmental review of this license renewal application, please contact the Project Manager, Tam Tran at 301-415-3617 or via email at Tam.Tran@nrc.gov.
