Dear Mr. Delaney:

Subject:

NPDES Monitoring Report .*

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 The SONGS Monitoring Report covering the month of April is submitted in accordance with the requirements of CRWQCB Order 82-14 (NPDES Permit No. CA0001228). A summary of the generating unit's status and significant analytical results is provided below.

Unit I was in operation during April. All but two flow streams sampled were found to be within permit limits. The low volume waste was high in average greate and oil. Maintenance of the system has been performed.

The Mesa sewage effluent was low in average pH. This is due to low flows. Chemical adjustment of pH is being performed until plant modifications can'be,ac,complished.

Sincerely, B. Katz Manager, Operations & Maintenance Support Enclosure cc Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX
