Docket Nos. 50-206 and 50-362 NPDES Permit Violations San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 3 Pursuant to Section 6.16.2.c of Appendix A, Technical Specifications, to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-13 for San Onofre Unit 1, and Section 3.2 of Appendix B, Environmental Protection Plan, to Operating License No. NPF-15 for San Onofre Unit 3, enclosed is a copy of the January 1987 monthly NPDES report for each unit. Each report includes a description of a violation of the NPDES permit. There were no NPDES Permit violations for Unit 2 during January,1987.

NPDES Monitoring Report San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 The SONGS Monitoring Report covering the month of January is submitted in accordance with the requirements of CRWQCB Order 82-14 (NPDES Permit No. CA0001228). A summary of the generating unit's status,and significant analytical results is provided below.

Unit 1 was in operation during January. All flow streams sampled were found to be within permit limits, except for the low volume waste stream, which was high in grease and oil. The oil has subsequently been removed from the separator collection box.

NPDES Monitoring Report San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 3 The SONGS Monitoring Report covering the month of January is submitted in accordance with the requirements of CRWQCB Order 85-13 (NPDES Permit No. CA0108181). A summary of the generating unit's status and significant analytical results is provided below. '

o The unit was shut down January 2nd to perform refueling and maintenance. All sampled water sources were found to be within permit limits except the oily waste separator, which was high in grease and oil. The separator has since been removed from service for cleaning and repair.

Pursuant to Order No. 85-13, Reporting Requirement 12, your letter dated -

June 25, 1985, authorizes the following representative (s) to sign and certify all reports required by this order: Arthur Kneisel, Environmental Engineer.
