This letter is being sent to request im extension of the approval to continuously discharge Perkiomen .

make-up storage tank. A letter from Mr. Solum Garg dated September 8.1993. (attached) indicated that  ;

- the approval will expire on February 28,1994.- We are requesting that the approval be extended through April 1995 or until a new NPDES pennit is issued.

A copy of this letter (including any attachments or enclosures) is being sent to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) in accordance with the Limerick Generating Station, Units I and 2.

Environmental Protection Plan. Section 3.2, which stipulates that the USNRC shall receive a copy of . .

any proposed changes to the NPDES pennit at the same time that the pennitting agency is notified.

Titis is in response to your August 19, 1993 letter concerning Perkiamen Storage Tank overflow to the Possum Holloa Run at the subject facility.

We hereby approve your request for a continuous discharge of 450 gpn fran Perkiomen Storage Tank to Possum Holloa Run through Outfall 020. The approval is subject to the conditions No. I through 3 of the original approval dated November 17, 1992.

This approval for a continuous discharge will expire on February 28,1994./[

Ya.tr IFDES pennit will be reviewed to reflect this approval.

Dear Mr. Morley:

J This is in response <to_ your October 6, 1992 letter requesting amendment of the subject permit to allow for the continuous discharge of 200 gpm of storage tank '

overflow containing Perkiomen Creek water to Possum Hollow Run. The discharge is:necessary to provide freeze protection for-the make-up storage tank.- Your existing permit does include authorization to discharge overflow water during ,

emergency events.

We hereby approve your request for a continuous discharge at Outfall 020 subject to the following conditions:

1. No erosion of banks or stream beds shall be induced by the discharge; appropriate erosion and sedimentation controls shall-be installed at the discharge point 020. The rate of discharge must be controlled to prevent scouring of stream bed and erosion of the stream bank.
2. The following discharge requirements shall be met:
a. Dissolved' oxygen - minimum daily average 6.0 mg/1, no value less than 5.0 mg/1.-
b. PH - 6.0 to 9.0 Standard Units at all times
c. The discharge shall not contain any substances ~in concentration or amounts sufficient to be' inimical or harmful to the water uses to be protected or to human, animal, plant, or aquatic life.-

- f j 3. Biweekly Monitoring shall be performed at the outfall 020 and the a results shall be submitted to this office along with the monthly Discharge Monitoring Reports.

4. Approval for a continuous discharge expires on April 30, 1993.

Your NPDES permit will be revised to include this approval when we revoke and reissue your permit as part of the Schuylkill River waterbed repermitting.
