SUBJECT:

Response to Notice of Violation Limerick Generating Station NPDES Permit No. PA 0051926

Dear Mr. Bellas:

This letter is being sent in response to the July 15, 1991, notice of violation to NPDES Permit No. PA ,

0051926. The notice of violation identified three conditions as being in violation of the Clean Streams Law, the Act of June 22, 1937, P.L. 1987, as amended.

The notice of violation also required a written respenso within 14 days to notify you of actions taken to comply, the date compli.ance was accomplished, and the steps taken to prevent a recurrence. ,

For the Schuylkill intake building pumphouse, the floor drain.is being included in an application for amendment to permit No. PA 0051926 which is expected to be submitted by November 1991. Corrective actions completed include the removal of all 55 gallon drums temporarily stored in the Schuykill intake building pumphouse and the use of portable dikes around operating equipment that have the potential to release polluting substances such as oil-that could enter the floor drain.

Permanent measures to prevent the discharge of polluting substances to the Schuylkill River are under investigation and will be identified by November 1991. -

For the building next to the holding pond the discharge of the floor drain has been determined to be the Holding Pond. This condition is in conformance with NPTES permic No. PA 0051926 and does not violate the clean streams law, the Act of June 22, 1937, P.L. 1987, Q

as amended, i Oi
